Discover Marseille

Visit Marseille with the CITYPASS

The Marseille Tourist Office offers a CITYPASS which provides free access to 14 museums in the city; Old Harbour Cruise and visit to the Chateau d’If; one tour in the tourist trains and free access to all public transportation (metro, bus and tramway), all with the same ticket. The prices are:

  • Single day pass: 22 €
  • Two-day pass: 29 €

Passport and Visa:

Every person entering France must have a valid passport and/or identification card. A visa is required for some nationalities. Please contact the nearest French Embassy or Consulate, or www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en for further information. The conference organizers will provide an official letter of invitation upon request to help overcome administrative difficulties in certain countries. This invitation will not imply any obligation from the Organization to provide any kind of financial contribution. Requests should be made by fax or e-mail and must include the participant’s complete mailing address, fax number, e-mail address and/or professional or student status proof.

Telephone:

To call France from abroad, dial the local international access code, followed by 33 (France country code), and the domestic number including the area code (minus the initial 0). For international calls from France, dial 00 followed by your correspondent’s country code and number.

Electricity:

Electricity in France is 220 Volts; frequency is 50 Hz and plugs have two male contact points. Plan to bring an adaptor and transformer, if necessary, for electrical appliances or electronic equipment using different voltage.

Climate and clothing:

September weather in Marseille is usually still quite warm and sunny, but temperatures can fall with the Mistral wind. Average number of days of sunshine is 300 days per year. Daily temperatures range from 17°C to 25°C. Night temperatures are usually milder, between 10°C to 15°C.
