Presenting tips
When standing at the lectern, face the microphone (and your audience) and talk normally. The microphone is designed to pick up your voice without you having to lean in to it.
The lectern will be positioned to one side of the stage and angled allowing you to refer to your presentation without turning away from the audience. If you are turning to look at the screen take a slight step to the side (away from the screen) and this will help you maintain a good position in front of the microphones.
Speak slowly so that you can be heard clearly. Good presenters often say that they feel they are talking too slowly. This overcomes everyone’s natural tendency to talk quickly when nervous or in front of a large group.
Try to keep your head up and look at the audience sitting at the back of your room. This will make you more engaging to your audience.
Please leave time for questions; 2-3 minutes for a contributed oral and 5-6 minutes for an invited oral.
Conference Language
The official language of the conference is English.
